Tralee was established by John FitzThomas FitzGerald close to 1216 and he founded the Dominican Abbey here in 1243.

At the Kerry County Museum, you can stroll by means of the streets, encountering the sights, sounds and smells of a bustling medieval neighborhood. You can find out what individuals wore, what they ate and wherever they lived, and why the Fitzgeralds, the Earls of Desmond, who founded the town, also wrecked it. Medieval Tralee has been reconstructed from a vast selection of archaeological, architectural and documentary sources. he resulting recreation conveys the sights, seems and smells of a typical Irish market place town in the year 1450.

The uniform of the Marines is the conventional red coat, white trousers, black gaiters and a bicorn hat. The facings were white, indicating a naval or marine unit. Marines also use white cross belts with a “fouled anchor” on the cross-plate.

I’m not confident how outdated this statue was, but it undoubtedly gave the effect of currently being previous and worn away.
