Wherever can I purchase a Very excellent quality Medieval sword?

Query by Elizabeth Cresswell: Where can I acquire a Extremely excellent quality Medieval sword?
My eighteen-yr-old is taking sword fighting lessons. For Christmas I would like to give her a medieval-type sword that is excellent for overcome. I never want a thing that is also high-priced I’d recognize anything $ a hundred or a lot less. I can not genuinely manage significantly a lot more. Her apply sword is quite alright, not her dream sword, which I know is Medieval.

Where can I search online for a great sword like this? As I understand from past purchases with ebay, it can not be trusted.

Unfortunately, “good for combat” and “not too expensive” tend to cancel each other out. Even if you avoid ornamentation and Damascus steel, any combat sword has some serious metallurgy behind it. It has to be strong, not too brittle, not too soft, and be able to take and hold an edge. That’s asking a lot for $ 100.

For personal defense a handgun is preferable, but I like Cold Steel knives, and they make swords as well, although a bit out of your price range.

Note that these are functional swords, much of the stuff you find on the internet is suitable for display only.

There are some good prices on cold steel swords here:

For $ 100 you will not get a functional sword. You will get what we call a SLO (Sword Like Object) that will be even more dangerous to use than a real sword. Don’t listen to some website telling you it’s “Battle Ready” or anything else. For $ 100 you get something that bears some superficial resemblance to a sword that might be okay to hang on a wall.

For a serviceable sword I suggest Angus Trim’s offerings. He makes the best but the ones that come from him are generally not highly finished. If you want a sword that is real and pretty then get one of Gus Trim’s blades mounted by Christian Fletcher.

Finally take all your sword questions to the place where people who really know swords hang. Swordforum.com.

I have a second degree black belt in Japanese swordsmanship and have studied Italian Longsword, Rapier, Spear, Staff and lots of other things with Schola Saint George. I know what I’m talking about here.

First of all, look to spend at least $ 75+ because that is the price range of GOOD QUALITY swords. Try to avoid stainless steel and damascus steel swords because they tend to break easily, and are only meant to be ”display replicas”. Look for swords that are at least 1045 carbon steel or higher. Oh and make sure that the sword you buy is HEAT TEMPERED.

Try these websites to buy some good quality swords:

    http://www.coldsteel.com/ (ships worldwide)
    http://www.swordsswords.com/ (ships worldwide)
    http://www.trueswords.com/ (US only)
    http://swordcompany.com/ (ships worldwide)

Please note that all these websites (with the exception of cold steel) have medium to high quality swords. I tried my best to find sites that are in a good price range and have good quality swords.

ColdSteel has VERY expensive swords, but they are extremely well known for having REALLY GOOD SWORDS. All their swords are fully functional and have a full tang.
