you must be about 10-12 years old.
no one will teach you about this.
Those who will, know nothing about it.
That stuff you see on “extreme martial arts” is all a farce.
Screaming and yelling with fake swords, fake “bo staffs” and fake nunchucks”.
Their selling the dream.
Kendo and Iaido. Kendo is Japanese fencing, and Iaido is the art of drawing and cutting.
Kenjutsu is Japanese sword fighting with the katana (or wooden bokken). Iaido is drawing, one-cut kill, removing the blood, and returning the katana to the scabbard in one motion, like he said. Kendo is Japanese fencing, and is not done with a katana.
I think.
aikido encompasses both armed techniques with jo and katana.
kendo teaches the art of striking with the shinai (bamboo sword)
iaido is the art of drawing and cutting with the sword
kenjutsu is the ancient art of japanese swordfighting
Bikenjutsu, Kenjutsu, Battojutsu, Iaijutsu, etc….all of these arts focus on using a katana.
Some are more combat oriented than others.
Some focus on using all ranges of a sword, whereas others focus primarily on cutting from the draw alone.
