Girl’s Medieval Tunic — This shorter version of what we are calling a medieval tunic is in fact much more versatile than that. Though the tunic both long and short were worn during various times in the middle ages this garment would not look out of place in ancient Rome or Greece or even the Byzantine Empire. In the ancient world the length of the tunic was used to display both vigor and status. The young and very active (also thereby slaves) wore shorter garments to allow freedom of movement. In the middle ages this style of shorter tunic was used much like we use modern t-shirts. It makes a fantastic foundation to any medieval costume; add a belt and wear it as lightweight Saxon or Viking shirt or leave the belt and throw a toga over it and you’re ready to serve your senator. Our tunics are made from a breezy open-weave cotton that looks very much like linen. These garments are all pre-shrunk and are colorfast. The cotton is much less wrinkle-prone than actual linen and is very soft against the skin.
